Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

This Chinese restaurant is the best carry out I have eaten at in St. Pete. The place is clean and has enough tables if you would like to eat in. The food is made fresh and is hot, tasty, and the portions are large. The prices are also great. I love their tofu and mixed vegies.

This place is actually our go to fast food Chinese take out/restaurant. We moved from downtown a year and a half ago and choose to make the 10 minute drive to this place. I've never had a bad meal. I know some people have, but honestly this is the best place I've been to around. We have two within 2 miles of our new home and they don't even compare. This is a good fast food Chinese restaurant downtown

Easily the best Chinese in St. Pete. Typical menu (beef & broccoli, general tso's, chick & veg) but you wont get the awkwardly chewy meat that you find at other places. Food is always seasoned, hot aaaaaaand QUICK. I order by phone, throw on my shoes, grab my keys/wallet and hop in my car, drive 10 whole blocks, and by the time I get there, they're packaging my food. It's awesome. Love this place.

For where it is, you can't find much better Chinese food. The taste and value are there, but I wish some of the noodle dishes weren't so salty. Moo shu pork is fantastic.

Pretty average Chinese take-out (you can dine in, as well). The egg drop soup was horrible, but for the price of $1.75 what do you expect? It was just bright yellow broth with egg pieces and lots of corn starch to make it look (and taste) glue-y. We didn't even eat it. Fried rice was ok and chicken with vegetables was a bit bland. However I liked the fact that it was lots of veggies in a dish and used only white meat. The price was really good $5.25 for smaller portion (but it's big enough to share). It's not one of the best Chinese food I have had but if you want something fast and cheap, go for it.

This was the first time I've been to China Kitchen. I had the honey chicken with pork fried rice and vegetable lo mein. The chicken was extremely sweet and crunchy...eh. The rice was very good but the noodles were a tad bitter but I can say they weren't too dry (I hate when I get dry lo mein.)

Always fast, and the General Tso Tofu is spot on. The tofu is cooked perfectly every time, and the quantity is enough for dinner and lunch the next day! Perfect because his close to my house and an easy spot to access for anyone living downtown. Always my go-to place for Chinese take out!

Is this the best Chinese food you will have in your life? No. But is this GOOD Chinese food for a strip mall in downtown St. Pete, FL? Yes. It's shockingly good AND FRESH under those parameters, actually. The House Special soup is excellent for when you are sick. Other items I've tried: Fried Pork Wontons Ribs Wings Wonton Soup Fried Rice All good. But what I highly recommend you go for is the shrimp in black bean sauce. I don't know if this is on the menu, I think it is not. But that's what I always used to order back in NYC at the Chinese places. Just order it. They use good quality, large shrimp. It's very good. Almost as good as NYC or Chicago Chinatown food.

Always great not the best but one of the top chinese restaurants for the price in the area

Pretty good food. Very slow service. Great prices. Recommend phoning in your order and eating back at your place.

My mother rarely eats take out food. She loves this place, as do I. Fresh food (they move through it so quickly)& great prices. No wonder this place is always hoppin. If there is a line, it goes pretty quickly. Honey Chicken was yum. Moms had the Pork egg foo yung, also very good. One plate (I usually order the full combo) usually makes for 2 meals. Will be back.

My favorite Chinese Restaurant in all of St. Pete. I usually avoid all other places, because when I do try something else, it seems to be pale in comparison to the fare that is served here. I have been coming here since the day they opened in 2003 and they have gotten better and always have fresh food because of the proximity to all the hotels, tourists, and college students. I try others only when I am desperate and can't get downtown.

$5.55 lunch from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The best fast food Chinese place of all the places that I've been to.

I've rarely been motivated to review a restaurant...but this is an exception. The absolutely worst Chinese take-out restaurant...unless we just order the wrong things. Orange Chicken totally grease-soaked dough. Could not find the chicken. Lo mein Shrimp a huge pile of fat soaked, limp spaghetti noodles...not the typical lo-mein noodles. Beware downtowners!

Fast, was ready within 10 minutes, and they were really friendly. Large quantity of food and no complaints on the taste!

We stayed at the Hilton across the street and were looking for a place to eat within walking distance. When we saw the sign for China Kitchen we thought - why not? I wasn't expecting to be wowed, but wowed we were! The food was great, it was fresh and we sampled crab rangoon, steamed dumplings, spring rolls, orange chicken, and shrimp with snowpeas. Everything was fresh and delicious. As a side note we live in Fort Myers and I had just eaten the day before at a Chinese restaurant whose food is hit or miss and they missed big time - 3 of us ordered food and all the food was old and disgusting. Not every Chinese restaurant is great, but China Kitchen was perfect.

Best Chinese in the area. Great takeout.

Oh, how I miss you on my speed dial. I think I ate there an average of 3 times a week for 5 years. Yum! The place is spotless, fast, cheap and great!

Fairly respectable self-described "New York Style" Chinese food. Having lived in New York for 10 years, I can confidently say that, it's not that bad. Some days it seems better than others. I suppose it depends on who is working the wok. Are they as good as Suzie's on Bleecker was back in the 1990's??? No, but I haven't found better Chinese in St. Pete.

Best Chinese take out in this area. The food is always good the restaurant is clean the people are nice
(5)Timothy N.
Pretty good food for a strip Chinese take out. It's convenient but problematic I can see living across the street from it. Great pork egg rolls. Fried rice can be hit or miss, but as of lately has been pretty good. I'm definitely a fan now.

I understand now why the reviews on this place are so mixed. OK, yes it's not exactly like take out in new York. However, usually when I get some sort of chicken from a Chinese restaurant there are a couple of questionable pieces that I end up not eating. Here, all of the chicken dishes have yummy all white meat chicken and not a single piece is left behind for being to tough or fatty or having suspicious crunchy bits and to me that alone makes for some of the best chinese food I've ever had. The egg rolls aren't my favorite, but still tasty as long as you use soy sauce.

I must first say I come from NYC where there is a Chinese restaurant on almost every corner. Nothing special with this fast food Chinese takeout place. I have had much better and also have had worse. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken combination plate. It came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Actually I liked the egg roll the best. It was hot and not greasy. The Bourbon chicken had a uninspiring sauce with little taste. The pork fried rice was ok but also with very little taste. The positive was it wasn't the usual greasy fast food Chinese meal. They used grease sparingly. I would think twice before going back.

In hometown NYC, having a picture menu guarantees a certain level of quality (generally not 'high'). The back lit pictures of greasy, salty, MSG laced sino-american Chinese dishes are contractual obligations for cheap, gut busting flavor bombs. You may not enjoy the repercussions, but you'll never regret it. China Kitchen, of the yellow rimm'd picto-menu variety, reneged on the aforementioned unspoken contract. General Tso's chicken tasted like a botched attempt at a poultry based dessert. Sesame noodles didn't taste like peanut butter or sesame, more like faux-citrus. Cashew Chicken was soggy and bland. It's hard to screw up rice, or else I would've had to find some way to give zero stars. On the bright side, American Spirits is right next door and they've got a great selection of alcohol. Drink enough before eating your takeout, maybe too much, and you might not notice the taste.

I grew up on the East Coast, worked in NYC chinatown, and have eaten China fast food all over this great land of America - maybe the chef has changed from 2009 when the other reviewer wrote, but he is dead wrong. Short of ABC Seafood, this is the best "Chinese" food in St. Petersburg. Really. They make all the Americanized staples perfectly, from your General Tsao's Chicken to Beef Lo Mein to Shrimp with Lobster sauce (actually just had it tonight - great, just like NYC takeout!). You can't beat the price tag of $5.15 for lunch specials either... and please don't forget an order of their chicken wings, awesomely flavored. Just get it to go, you don't want to sit down in these places... :)
